Come to the Exhibition!

Mostly I was waiting for this moment to happen. It is almost unbelievable. I am graduating at last. My main purpose of being here in the Netherlands is to get my degree, and I have it almost in my hands. In this show I will be showing work inspired by the handling of people in this society. You can be made. You can make yourself the way you would like, even your looks in some ways. In the future you could change everything the way you like, only if you have the perseverance to do so. Come all, come see, like my mom said, come see what I've been reaping.

Fulfill me

‘ Space Forms’ exhibition in Alkmaar

The exhibition hall in Kunsteyssen is entirely covered in tiles, rows of metal columns fill the space. Around one of these columns white perforated foam filled fabric construction was wrapped. By touching the pillar and holes, the viewer could physically experience the contrast between the softness of the fabric and the coldness of the metal. The wrapped column offered a contrast to the hard and cold feeling of the space.

Touch screen, 2007

I was thinking about a world exhibition happening simultaniously with one title.

5 artists from different backgrounds with work about the same subject presenting their work at their base country. For example, one in South America, Caribbean, US, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia etc. Each taking place at a local gallery. Each gallery is presenting all the artis, only one is actual there in person with their piece. Because this happening is around the world some have to have their opening mid-night or early in the morning.

A camera is installed in front of each work and because of the internet it is broadcasted in the other countries by being projected. Basically there will be just one 'real' work at each gallery while people can watch the other projected works.

The Title would be something like VOGUE BODY.

I would present a performance piece called 'Touch screen'. This piece consists out of a streched white screen, you cannot see through it or see anything behind it. When people touch the screen (getting the hint from the title) something (me) will touch them back. The more they touch the more body surface they get to touch. This intimate act will be filmed from the top and side ways covered by a frame around the screen. Working like a voyeur. (This piece is performed in 2007 at Maria Kapel in Hoorn, The Netherlands) People in other countries are then the voyeur who will be judging the activities of the act.

It would be nice if Marc Jacobs dares to participate between artists, he would show clothes in the States. Otherwise I would choose Cindy Sherman with her amazing transformations

Mario A. will show pictures in Europe

Santiago Sierra a performance piece in Mexico

Yayoi Kusama vanished between the dots in Japan

I would do my performance in the Caribbean

It would be an experimental but exciting opening of an exhibition. With the feeling of new year (because people will count down to launch it online). Everything is possible and we all are everywhere at the same time doing the same things attending the same event.

2x2 Projects A'dam presents Filter by Torsten Ruehle

War, 2009

Coffee and cake, 2009

Roulette, 2008

Outland empire, 2008

In his collection named Filter, German artist Torsten Ruehle transforms movie stills, newspapers or photographs into surrealistic white washed images. 2x2 Projects in Amsterdam presented 12 paintings of this Dresden born artist. From a distance the paintings seem painted over with white. The density of the white is different on the paintings from opaque to transparent. This gives the space another dimension and a strange sphere. Dark lines outline all forms in the painting. When looking carefully one can see little details added with colored pencil or pen, which makes the viewer question. Some images are recognizable movie scenes. In all the images the artist adds elements to change the subject matter of the image, referring to different happenings in society. In one big painting he added a machine to an avalanche simulation, this would spin to different symbols like love and religion to define its destiny.

Two of his works were framed pieces, they are found painted photographs from the war period. The subjects on these pictures where outlined by a thick black outlining making it very graphic. Some faces where painted over with white paint, covering its identity. A smiley face drawn with pen emphasizes the absent person. Who may or did not come home. He recreates and points out possibilities of the continuation of the story. His pieces have the playfulness of a cartoon drawing while being a convincing painting about serious or light subjects.  You look to known or unknown images with the artists filter.

Macba

Enjoying Barcelona, searching for art. You'll have to visit Macba. A building contrasting with everything about Barca. Inside the quieteness of a real museum. this feeling seems to be very universal. So funny that I am really enjoying this feeling. Doesn't matter where I am, when I am in a museum I feel at eas, a recognisable place for me.
There where two exhibitions from for me two unknown artist Thomas Bayrle. I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore and Rabascall. Production 1964-1982.
Maybe I had to start with Rabascall to enjoy it more but that means that I was really impressed by Thomas Bayrle. (Berlin 1935)
At first I saw his work as being made by a younger person. I enjoyed the work even more when I saw they where made in the '60. Amazing to see the complicated structures he drawed. Drawings which seems to be made by a computer.
Something we would do now easily.
When entering his exhibition space you'll face a huge wall covered with different drawings/paintings in the way I semy explained. By repetition of a object he creates one image contrasting or from the same thing. It looks very graphic and I think people would categorise it as pop art. He refered in some to Andy Warhol and Rene Magritte. All in all a very colourful fresh complicated wall.
Further in the exhibition space his work became more political and conceptual. With reference on world leaders, composers, killers and artist.

Welcome to my digital self

Dus... I have a blog. Wat nu?

Lately I was very concerned that I am not keeping up with my/a digital life. Nowadays it is almost a must to have a life on the web. At first I didn't want to... I still don't know. But now it's to late, I am starting my blog starting from today. You know how it goes in this world. If you can't beat them, join them. I am a young woman that is as human as you all, I let myself be influenced, peer presured or manipulated. I still want to read about this phenomenon of  being online and offline.
'They' say that you could be an respectable someone in some peoples eyes if you have a lot of friends on your profile page while being very good at it. about that. This cyber thing continuously changes. If it is not Tickles its Hyves, Myspace or Facebook. I was adviced to start a Facebook page because now everyone is stepping over.
Maybe it is handy but what do you do with it?? I still love personal contact better than leaving messages.
With this blog I can put my inner dialogs on a digital page, where it is exposed to people, pixels, critics, cyberworld.
